Hello friend, thank you so much for joining me today on my first blog post. I believe it will be a blessing to you as well as subsequent posts.
This blog post “Ancient words, ever true!!!” is aimed at reviving in your heart the desire for the word of God and exalting the word above all else even as I touch briefly on the significant things to expect from the word.
The word of God is really like a coconut.
In the year 2002, a popular gospel singer, Michael W. Smith released a song titled “ancient words” although it is believed to have been written by Lynn DeShazzo. The chorus of the song reads:
“Ancient words ever true
Changing me, and changing you.
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart”
Beautiful lyrics, isn’t it?
The scripture is estimated to be about 2,700 years old… Wow! That’s quite old… However, the potency of the word is as fresh as ever.
It is quite sad that many exalt other things that define life than the scriptures.
They take the word of the press, the word of wall street journal, the word of a celebrity over the word of God.
Let me say quickly that the recorded Word of God might be about 2700 years old but the Word of God “is without beginning or end of days”.
The last line of the chorus, it says “let the ancient words impart” and so I ask, what does it impart?
What exactly does this eternal entity Impart, having been meticulously recorded in our three dimensional realm by Holy men who were supernaturally helped?
There could be a lot of benefits to studying the scriptures but this is not the same as what it imparts. Let me sum all it imparts into two inseparable words “Faith and Grace”.
Someone says “what do you mean inseparable? And Do you mean faith is imparted?”.
Oh yes and yes!
They are inseparable, you see, without faith, you cannot be saved by grace
Ephesians 2:8a (KJV)
“For by grace are ye saved through faith;….”
Believe me when I tell you this, when faith comes, you are rest assured grace unto salvation is present.
It is through faith that grace is received…. Hallelujah!!!
If there is no faith, you cannot touch the grace of God that brings us to the fullness of His dear son.
The importance of faith to Christianity cannot be overemphasized.
We don’t just wake and go about like every normal person. There’s need to live by faith and grow thence.
When the scriptures tell us to grow in grace, it simply means increase your faith…. I’m so excited about this…. I’m excited because I believe that someone will look upon this matter squarely and make a decision to do what is needed to grow in faith.
There is a lot I would want to lay down but it’s better to keep this short.
Look at men in the scriptures that walked in grace, they were hailed for great faith.
How then can I get faith that I may walk in grace?
Faith is not picked along the road. You don’t find costly pearls or precious stones just laying on the road. It is always hidden in the deep.
…and the scriptures, clearly shows us the value of our faith, worth more than gold…
Our Father, whose will is that all men grow into the fullness of His son, has gingerly hidden faith in plane sight (but never visible to the blind). Faith is meticulously inserted into every word of the scripture.
Any man who wants to grow in grace (in the life of Christ) must seek the word from whence faith cometh.
Faith does not come naturally to man, No!!! It must be received from the word.
That man must sit down and feast on the word of God.
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
(I am so tempted to analyze the scripture above)
It clearly shows us that faith comes through the hearing of the word.
Through the scriptures.
This is what shapes the life of a believer into a life overflowing with grace.
These words are spirit and life… That is grace, the life giving Spirit, wrapped in faith presented by the word.
You cannot experience God’s grace outside of the word (Paul said God’s power to save man is the gospel…the word)
The lukewarmness of the church to the scriptures and the Spirit that gives life is alarming.
It is as though it is only natural to teach from the scriptures in church but once church service is over, everyone, “face reality”.
Precious people, we must break out of seeing the Bible as one of the religious accessories and intentionally and continuously (for it is in continuity we really receive) seek the word of God.
Don’t be satisfied just reading the Bible (fulfilling the religion of reading the bible), contend for the Faith that comes in each capsule of the word… Contend!!!
(believe, pray and repeat)
The word can be gotten in different ways… Books, messages, songs, etc… Don’t substitute one for the other but exalt the scripture above all.
Brethren, this ancient word is ever true. It formed the heavens and the earth and all that is in them.
Seek it!!!!
Today is the best time to commit yourself to studying the word for the purpose of growth… Start with a word of prayer for help to be committed.
I pray that fresh hunger for this unleavened bread will well up in you in Jesus name.
Amen.
Join me next week as I begin a 1 month post on the word of God.
