The Nature Of The Word Of God

Hello dear friend, thank you for joining me this week. I believe after last week’s post you took necessary steps to return to the word of God seriously. If you have not been faithful, I encourage you to begin.

Today, as I mentioned last Friday, this blog post is on the topic “The nature of the word of God”. It is very important to understand the nature of the word of God if you are to give it the prominence it deserves for it to be a blessing.

Writing on the nature of the word of God is aimed at giving us understanding of what the word of God is so when next we give ourselves to reading or hearing the word, we are very intentional with reverence, humility and expectation.

You must understand that we are on a journey to becoming like Christ, and understanding these foundational things are very key to reaching the destination.

Now, foundationally and most importantly, I will like you to establish this in your heart that The word of God is God. This truth cannot be disputed as it is mentioned clearly in the Bible

John 1:1 (KJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

This simply means every character you can attribute to God is the character of the word that God has graciously made available to you in the Bible.

Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, every single character of God is in the word. If you believe this, you will be more intentional about the word of God and it will be “more intentional about you”… cos, you see, the word opens up to a particular kind of people…hmmm… We’ll get there.

So in addition to this ultimate Divine nature of the word, I will be explaining Four (4) things to note of the nature of the word of God.

1. LIGHT

Genesis 1:3 (KJV)
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

There are many other scriptures I could use to explain this point but I chose this because of the perspective I want to explain from.

Light in this case is an expression of the God life in your heart, knowledge in the fear of God and understanding…. These are dimensions of the Holy Spirit. The life of God which is light is embedded in the word. When Men drown themselves in the word of God, believe me they release a different aura, they have a radiance about them.

Let me use this simple example. I once heard a brother tell another Christian brother, “your presence convicts me.” whether this is heresy or not is not what we are discussing today (although I don’t believe it is because I believe I understand what he meant And I will readily defend it with the story of the glowing face of Moses and the Israelites).

From the word, you can carry the tangible presence of God… The life of God.

Do I need to tell you I’m not talking about memorizing scriptures?… and that is why we are learning about the word of God so we know how it ought to be handled (I have not scratched the surface of knowledge myself) before we delve into practical Christian living

I know sometimes you read your Bible and at the end you say “oh, the word of God is so confusing I have a headache already”

Listen to me, I don’t care what your experience has been, the scriptures say the word of God is not confusing. The Bible in psalms 119:130 says the entrance of God’s word gives light and understanding to the simple. How can that which has come to correct the confusion in the world, be confusing? No way!!!

The word of God illuminates your heart, it opens your heart by it entrance to receive the expression of God ….. Glory!!!!!!!

The fear of God’s word being confusing keeps you away from it sometimes.

Sometimes, you prepare yourself mentally (that is, try to be wise by yourself) before going to God’s word. You can’t get anything from Him like that… Go in the darkness of your heart (foolishness and confusion) and let him be the light that will shine (understanding and life). Amen.

2. SEED

Luke 8:11 (KJV)
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”

Now, my understanding of the word of God being a seed is that:

It has the God life in itself with which it comes to impart you (I keep repeating this impartation so you know the word of God is not just for mental development but major and primarily for impartation of life). It, therefore, requires a good soil of the heart to die and reproduce… Remember I said there are some kinds of people the word opens up to? Yeah, it opens up to release that life in it (Faith and Grace)

It has to be Nurtured. This is done by believing, meditation and practice. The word becomes unprofitable to you if you don’t nurture it through believing, prayer, meditation and practice (there are more arms but those are the major). Pray about what you’ve read, meditate on it and believe then practice it.

Finally, it Grows. This requires patience because sometimes, you seem to have believed the word, submitted to His will but you don’t seem to see it produce fruit in your life, never ever stop!!!! Continue, push and stand by the truth. This brings me to the next nature of God’s word.

3. FOREVER

Matthew 24:35 (KJV)
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

these were the very words of Jesus.

It’s funny how people seek immortality in science. (just saying)

When the word of God says a thing, you can be very well assured it is, it was and it will be (whatever the case). However, “when the son of man returns, shall He find faith on the earth?”. Will men be faithful to stick to and by the word even when it doesn’t look like it?

For example, you are asked to be Holy as God is, but you have tried for long you keep falling short, will you continue to hold in your heart and your lips and continue to exalt God’s standard of Holiness or will you begin to look for the “Greek meaning” to the word “Holy” in that context so as to drop the standard?

God’s word is faithful and for those who will receive it and remain faithful, like the dawning of a new day, grace will emerge.

4. GUIDE AND DIRECTOR

Psalms 119:105 (KJV)
“NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

This is exactly why the word of God cannot be confusing. It has come to solve your confusion.

Quick interlude:

It’s sad though that many don’t know they are in darkness because you see, in the spirit, darkness is a form of light (Jesus said “if the light in you be darkness…”), so you may know where to go, you may know how to go about it but you cannot know the way of the Lord which is excellent because they do not seek it, they are satisfied where they are and because they’ve been blinded by the prince of this world

Resume from interlude:

Dispel that devilish idea that the word is confusing!!! It has come to guide and direct you therefore it can’t be confusing.
Pick the scriptures with meekness and let Him breathe upon you.

As I wrap up this edition, I want you to know that anything that must be a life giver, must have life in itself. Therefore the word of God is living and it is powerful (Hebrews 4:12). It has the ability, the power to affect your spirit, your soul and your physical body… Oh yes it does!!!

Precious reader, nothing should be more important to you than living the Life Of God..It begins with a prayer to Jesus for salvation from sin.

I encourage you to remember that the word of God is not inferior to the person of God… It is powerful. It can change that issue… It can break anything no matter how hard…. It can answer every question.

I therefore announce to you brethren, COME BOLDLY!!!

You will experience salvation and transformation.
