Hello again dear friend. Thank you for coming here to read from me. I pray you’re blessed by today’s post.
Preparing today’s post, I had to take a break to really pray for my life. Going through the word of God, I trembled at what I saw, I feared even more when the word searched my heart. I looked around and screeched with heartbreak on what may be the order of our service to God. I hope we will really pray… My heart prays even as I write on this matter.
There are so many things to be said concerning our love for God but I’m not here to say all things.
Last week, I wrote about Loving God and it was established that our love for God is primarily marked by our obedience to God. Summarizing last week’s post I quoted John Bloom as I further established that our obedience to God is not just the doing of His instructions but subscribing to His ideologies, being willing and obedient.
Let’s look into the scriptures…
Romans 12:9 (KJV)
“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good”
You’re probably asking “is it not the same thing?”
No it’s not the same thing… It is very dangerous to assume that the presence of light is the absence of darkness… In the beginning, you see, God called light to be and it was but darkness didn’t vanish… not because the light was not strong or it was low “voltage light”… God then separated Light from Darkness... Intentionally!!!
Friend, it is dangerous to assume because you do the word of God you automatically hate wickedness. That’s a very dangerous assumption… It says Abhor… There’s an action to be taken against evil and an action to be taken towards good. Rather, what we do is that we take an action towards good and leave evil crouching at our doorstep.
Brethren I have seen us accommodate many things that we ought to despise. By “us” I mean the church, I mean you and me. We have become lackadaisical about what we ought to repel vehemently. We say to ourselves “do not do this, do not that.” and we think by that alone we show our love for God. No Sir!!! We should start saying “Hate this and hate that”.
Let me show you a scripture…
Psalms 97:10 (KJV)
“Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.”
Ye that love God, hate evil.
This is not what we do, what we do is that we make sure we do not involve in evil but we accommodate those that do and make them feel it’s alright it’s fine… Sometimes we even say “I understand”.
God hates divorce… Don’t ask yourself “will I ever divorce?” because your answer will be a No. Rather search your heart, ask yourself, “what do I think about divorce?” “What is the posture of my mind and heart concerning divorce”
You may not fornicate but do you celebrate and honor those that do and promote it in their music… This is how you know you hate pride like our Lord, you can’t stand a song that exalts materialism and self. These are just examples.
Friend, you may think I’m going too far but no I’m not. I am on this journey with you. You may even be ahead of me but I must speak the Truth of God no matter where I am in this journey.
This is what the Lord says…
2 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”
It is only common error to think “come out from among them” simply means don’t do this and that. However, it is not, it is telling you and I to separate ourselves from evil…. Let there be a distinct separation like light from darkness… This separation takes place first in your mind, your perception of that matter. When that happens, you are told then to “touch no unclean thing” and you will be received… It reminds me of the scripture “If you are willing and obedient you will eat the fruit of the land”
Aaaahhhh!!! Does it pierce your heart when people gather and although they are not gay and they are not planning to become but they defend gay rights???
Brethren sometimes I think about these things and though I don’t do them, though I don’t think they make sense, though I don’t think I support them yet I don’t know where I stand when it comes to hating them as God does, I don’t know if I have a righteous indignation towards them And so I pray.
I pray, I pray and ask God to put His fear in my heart because the scriptures say to fear God is to hate evil… Not just to do good… To actively detest evil.
Pray the same prayer… You may want to take a pause here and pray… Pray!!!
Fornication is everywhere, immorality is everywhere so much that you may become passive about it… You may not do it but you will excuse it for others and this will continually weaken you until, listen to me, you will fall.
Genesis 4:7 (NLT)
“You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master”
I want to hate evil. I don’t know about you but I want to hate evil. If I do it Myself, I will become judgemental. Only God can cause me to hate evil and give me a righteous indignation toward evil and that is why I will pray to Him.
Brethren pray that God will put His fear in your heart. That you may not just do God’s will but hate evil.
Thank you for joining me this week. I hope I don’t repeat this topic next week… But join me to find out. God bless you.

Yes. This is a very good post for reflection and good thinking. God separated darkness and light intentionally! Amen to that! So we who follow Jesus should always have an intentional hatred of evil. Reflecting on that, I agree with you. There are still more room for growth to truly live for God, abhorring evil and cleaving to what is good! Praise the Lord!ππ»π
