A Prayer For The New Year

Happy New Year!!!

Glory to God for another year.

It’s amazing I got to post on Christmas Day and I’m posting on New Year’s Day. I trust God to help me use this opportunity to change my Reader’s perspective and pursuit this new year.

This will be a short post but very powerful because the Holy Spirit will breathe on your heart.

Psalms 90:12 (KJV)
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

This scripture is mostly read and heard during birthday celebrations and parties and every time I’ve heard it quoted, an impression is given that actually takes away the essence of the scripture.

This is the message passed when I hear this scripture quoted… “So teach us to count our days…” and so we go 25… 26… 27… No, No, No.

The idea of that scripture is not for us to count our years it is to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. That means; help us know that we will not live on earth forever and so incline our hearts to purposeful living by the fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom… Again I say… Help us know that we will not live on earth forever.

Therefore, as the year has just begun, I want to indulge you to seek a more purposeful living than what to eat, what to drink and what you will be clothed with. Be more purposeful than earnings and material abundance because those things don’t have eternal value and you won’t live forever, a day will come that you must give account.

It’s sad that our Lord will have to shut His ears to many of the prayers of believers for 2021 because it is filled with so much selfish ambitions and “Gentilic spirit(I coined that word… It means what drives a gentile, an heathen, an unbeliever) they seem noble but noble doesn’t cut it with God.

Look through your plans for the year, they are a huge cup of your favourite flavour of Ice Cream with God as one of the toppings… As we put it “The God factor”.

Many of us truly don’t believe. We think if we are all about God, who will take care of the government, who will go to the agricultural market, who will alleviate poverty in the third world countries, who will make the Nations’ football team better, who will produce good music… Who will, who will, who will ??? Now let me ask you the same question God asked Job, where were you when He established the foundations of the world?

I respect your noble pursuit and prayers but that’s the best it is, Noble.

If man stayed in the will of God, we would see God use man to maintain all His creations.

I’ve not gotten to the prayer of the year yet I know but you must understand that Matthew 6:33 is as intentional as your life. We must be humble enough to accept and believe that it is for His pleasure we have come to the earth. Jesus said “I am come to do the will of the Father” and “As the Father sent me so I send you”

So this is the prayer for the year.

Lord, pour in me the faith that pleases you. The faith that knows that you exist and you reward them that seek you diligently.

That’s the prayer for the year. The patriarchs of old were commended for their faith that pleased God (Hebrews 11).

Let this faith in God be what will guide you through this year. Let this faith in God be what drives you to do what ever you do. Let this faith in God be responsible for all achievements.

Listen to me, Faith is always pregnant.

The problem is we don’t really believe and so we create a vision for ourselves and impregnate it with “faith“. You may achieve this vision but there’s a problem… When it all ends, what will be the testimony?

Well done good and faithful servant, enter into my rest.” or “I never knew you, you worker of iniquity.”

No matter what you do, no matter what you achieve, if it is not birthed by faith, it is displeasing to God.

Ask the Lord your God who as promised to give you anything you ask according to His will to pour upon you the faith that pleases Him, that Christ may dwell in your heart.

Say this with me:

This year, I am filled with the knowledge of the will of God in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This year, I am walking in a manner worthy of the Lord. This year I am pleasing God in all respects and bearing fruits in every good work. This year I am increasing in the knowledge of God. Amen!”

Shalom my Friend.

Have an amazing year.

I’ll write to you next week.

Amen! Exactly. Our life on earth is temporary. This should spur us to live a life of wisdom. That is fearing God and living for Him.❤️
    Blessings!
