The God Factor; Your Fears

God becomes a factor for many because of their fears.

Will I be successful in life? Will I make a name for myself? Will I become what I desire to become? Will I make enough money to take care of my parents at old age? Will I be comfortable enough? Will I have the luxury car and house I desire?

All these questions follow “…If God leads”.

Let me say again, God is not a factor in your life. He is all you are, all you should be and all you will be. He is your satisfaction, He is all you pursue.

Matthew 13:44 (KJV)
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.”

I started by saying God becomes a factor in many people’s lives as a result of fear. I’ll talk about fear in two perspectives.

The first perspective of fear I want to talk about is the fear of what we shall eat, what we shall drink, what we shall drive, what we shall become, what we shall be clothed with.

This kind of fear is a major issue for believers in the world today. Because of this fear, we put the cart before the horse in our lives. The cart now chooses the destination and chooses the path.

When God is a factor in the life of a believer, it means that believer is driven by so many various things including God. The lust of the flesh drives him, the lust of the eyes drives him and the pride of life drives him. But God has called us that He alone will be the only one that drives us. So that he alone will be the only thing that we hold on to.

This is the fear we have and so we make God a factor. We can not be so confident holding on to nothing but God.

You hear a believer advising asking another believer who’s applying for a government contract “Do you know someone?” and the one applying says “No, I don’t but I’ve prayed” then such abomination proceeds from the other’s mouth, saying, “yes it’s good to pray but you have to try to know someone. See in this country, you can’t get anything if you don’t know someone.”

Did you see how God was reduced to one of the elements that affect the result of that application?

Listen to me, count it all joy when you are disadvantaged as a believer because then are you most advantaged.

Like that farmer, sell all your ambitions and desires and goals and visions and all your other elements and factors and embrace God and God alone.

The second perspective is the fear that when we talk only about God as all the equation and we neglect other things it may breed lazy and nonchalant believers. “Heaven helps those who help themselves” as they say.

So the fear of looking nonchalant makes you give God some attention and then do what every other person does. You believe the principles above the word of God.

In summary, you fear the foolishness of the gospel. Oh dear friend, it is in this foolishness I pride.

Oh I boast in this foolish gospel.

Because it is the gospel that transformed me into a responsible person. It is the gospel that taught me diligence. It is the gospel that taught me to work selflessly not seeking my gain but the service of God in my place of assignment.

Listen to me, I say again, pour your all upon God. Make God your motivation, your strength, your pattern, your result and your satisfaction.

I’ll like to stop here to avoid writing a book.

God bless you greatly.
