The Battlefield

Yes we have the victory and that’s why we can fight.

If we didn’t have the victory, we would not be warriors, we would not even have the honour to be slaves of war, we would be born slaves to remain slaves for eternity – Slaves of the devil.

That you have the victory in Christ doesn’t mean there is no battle, it means you just go to the battlefield to administer or enforce, as you may prefer, your victory.

Today, I introduce something I will complete next week. It is about the battle the Christians fight. This week, I will talk about the truth that we actually war as long as we are on this earth and in flesh, but I will focus more on what the war is and where it is, hence the title, “The Battlefield“. Next week, by God’s grace, I will talk about how we ought to fight.

So…Let’s begin...

2 Corinthians 10:3 (KJV)
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:”

This scripture clearly speaks of Waring, of fighting. Listen to this, as long as we are Christians still in this flesh, living, we will always be engaged in a battle.

You say, “Didn’t Jesus fight and conquer for me?” Oh yes He did, He also said “remain in me”.

Maybe I should just take that last quoted statement as my cue to go into what the war is about.

So, this war the devil brings to you is targeted at taking you out of the life of Christ. The battle is to make sure your salvation is unprofitable. The battle is to bring you to the point of denying your faith if possible.

Brethren, there is a war, the target is your faith and you must contend for it!!!

Unto such things as this is the scripture appropriately quoted, thus saying, “…the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent takes it with force.”

Some believers agree that there is a battle, others believe there is no battle, just bask in the victory of Christ (this is correct but not true). Sadly, whether you believe it or not, there is an unending battle as long as you walk in human skin.

Note, I’m not trying to shift your focus from what Jesus did to focusing on a battle that is ongoing. Jesus Christ has won the victory indeed, people know this but are still continuous victims of an already won battle.

Again, listen to this, there is a consistent battle that is aimed at making sure you remain in the dark as to what the will of God is.

For a believer, the only thing that can stand in the way of coming into the fullness of the knowledge of the will of God is the unrenewed state of the mind.

Romans 12:2(KJV)

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Knowing this, the Devil brings the war to your mind. With all kinds of tricks, with all kinds of subtlety, with all kinds of enticements and convincing, with all arguments, with all forms of proof that all the physical senses cannot deny, the devil comes so sly to hold captive your mind… He holds it captive in “freedom”, the audacity!!! The sly!!!!

The ideas and suggestions come so subtly, as though they were yours, they take hold of your mind and you live by them, admitting and surrendering to a lie that it is who you are. Becoming a stronghold, you live like a free man but you have no idea you have succumbed to slavery, you have become a slave of war, a barren land unable to bear the fruit that comes from the sowing of the seed of the will of God in your mind.

Listen to me brethren, the Bible states it clearly, we do not war in the flesh, it’s not your neighbor who’s in a cult that’s your battle, it’s not that curse the old woman made that’s your battle (because a curse without a cause cannot stand), thing of anything outside the renewal of your mind, I tell you, that is not the battle.

Where is this battle?
Many who believe that there is a battle to be won wrongly fight (or administer victory as I like to put it) over there enemies…in which case the Bible uses singular “enemy”… They declare victory over there wicked Boss who doesn’t want them to be promoted, they declare victory over a gift someone they have suspected for a while gave them, these things are not the battle.

The mind is definitely where the battle is… In the realm of the soul, where the will, the emotions and where reasoning is.

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Let me highlight what I’m trying to bring out there “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…”

It went on to mention who we war against and so it is easy to picture these as flying “ugly” beings and therefore start “speaking words into the atmosphere to clear the atmosphere and take charge of it” but No!!! They are fighting against something and it’s not the beautiful atmosphere and scenery it’s against a mind being renewed by God.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Do you see that? We war but not after the flesh. We war but not with physical weapons or human beings even if they are some form of agents or occult. We war but not to protect our money, cars and earthly belongings.

This is what many don’t know or they know but prefer to ignore because they are more interested in their earthly belongings than anything else.

Another mistake people make is the same mistake Eve made… Coming down to the realm of reason to fight that battle.

Come up here next week to read what the scriptures say about how we should fight.

Thank You for reading from me today. God bless you.

Remember that your life is a continuous contention for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.

I know you’ll share this, but don’t forget to read and meditate.
