Ye Are gods

Hello precious Reader, you already know how I feel about you coming here to read. I’m also confident that you will never end the read without soaking up something unto righteousness. God bless you.

Ye are gods” is something I have heard so many times. It is usually used to “open your eyes” to the authority you have as a believer and how that you can speak things to be… Because God spoke the world to be and we are created in His own image.

I am not writing to debunk this but to, as always, present the word to you showing you what is more important and renew your heart, fixing your gaze on the appropriate description God has of us… All of us, especially those who believe.

There’s a longing in the heart of man that seeks self aggrandisement. Whether a believer or not, he still battles self everyday (the word says “deny yourself and take up the cross DAILY and follow me”). We want to be significant in our own selves, we want to be independent in ourselves, we want to be able to control things, we want to be able to USE THE PROVISIONS AND POWER OF GOD TO SATISFY OUR OWN DESIRES, again I say, we want to be independent of control and check. So with this mind, we take the word of God and corrupt it. Some do this innocently, not because they are evil, but hiding the lamp under the bowl kinda makes it subject to the bowl. Instead of lifting the word in its purity, we cover it and take it in with an impure bowl.

You’re probably saying “but Rowland, the Bible does say ‘ye are gods’In fact, Jesus said it”. Yes!! Jesus said it, quoting from Psalms but it doesn’t mean what we take it as. I advise that you read the whole chapter 82 of the book of Psalms (it’s a small chapter), it’ll help.

Psalms 82:1-7 (KJV)
“God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.”

Reading it in simpler versions will help. You must understand that though the word there for “gods” is the same word for “God” (Elohim). It is also used to mean magistrate, judge and rulers and when you read the entire chapter, you’ll see that these were who that word “gods” spoke about. The reference Jesus made to this in John 10:34 needs no further explanation once this is understood.

The rulers, magistrate and judges were referred to as gods, even by God because he was given authority over other human beings by God and only by God based on God’s wisdom and plan and that ruler’s ought to be feared. We can easily understand it when we read Romans 13:1 down.

It is therefore obvious this scripture was not talking about believers and was never referenced by any of the Apostles to mean that believers are gods. I know something they did reference and were confident about and satisfied with and that is “Ye are GOD’S!!!”.

Oh my friend you must not ever think that referring to yourself as a god makes you have more authority and more power. Be satisfied to be under the government of Jesus Christ. You are a son of God if truly you believe and have His Spirit. Knowing this, you have all things but you are still subject to the rule of God… You are like the serving son as opposed to the prodigal son that lived independently without the authority of his Father.

Listen to me friend, you have been bought with a price and you are no longer your own. Find satisfaction in Him being your Lord. Exalt His name. All things have been put under His feet not yours. Cast out all the ideas that lift you up instead of Jesus Christ… You are not a god!!! If you have believed and received His Spirit, you are a child of God if you are led by that Spirit.

I’ve written long enough, let me wrap it up here. I’m not saying you don’t have authority, I am saying you don’t have authority in yourself. I am saying stop carrying a mind that you are independent… Stop thinking Jesus died to give your “godship” more power and authority of the earth and to declare anything you want to be. No!! He died to buy you to Himself, you are His. You are His fragrance on earth… You diffuse only Him.

We are gods God’s!!!

The prodigal son was ready to give up his independence to be even the lowest servant. Find satisfaction in lifting Him up.

Don’t forget to read through the scriptures again. God bless you, thank you for reading from me today. I’d appreciate it if you shared this. Like and drop a comment too. Thank you.
