The paradox. Freedom and bondage. How can one be bound and free? How can there be bondage in freedom?
Last week, I broadcast and asked that you read one of my previous posts; Thanksgiving and Depravity and that’s because of what I want to write on today.
I remember when I was much younger, I wished I could ask God for enough money to last me a lifetime. I wish God could just give me so much money, I wouldn’t need to go back to ask Him again. We put it in a funny way “I wish God could give me one hundred thousand million billion trillion”… It was a wrong arrangement, I know, but it was the way I could express how much I wouldn’t mind having, plus I was too young to know it was a wrong arrangement.
Did you catch the motive there? I wanted more so that I don’t have to ask God every time. Does that sound familiar? The prodigal son!
Kai!!! Do you know that the initial desire of the prodigal son was not to abscond. All he wanted was control over his possession. He didn’t want to feel like he had to be subject to his father before getting anything from him. How I know is because the bible makes me understand that it was after a while he left the home for a far country. Let me just say this as a side blessing… “The decision to be independent is the first step to an endless fall until you repent and return under the roof of your father and submit to his lordship“. Do not cast off restraint.

I have so many things to say but I want this short.
Adam and Eve wanted to be like God… Able to take their own decision independently and without being influenced. Little did they know that No entity is without authority… A body without the spirit is dead.
They sought for freedom outside God only to put themselves in a bondage that leads to death.
Romans 6:18 (KJV)
“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
Now listen, the aim of this post is to show you that you are not just free in Christ to be your own boss, to live for yourself, No!!! You are free from sin and death and a slave (bond servant) to God for righteousness. Hence, the bondage of your freedom.
…and so the scriptures say “do not use your freedom as an excuse to engage the flesh”
Listen to me brethren, true freedom is to be a slave under a good master. You can not be your own master you can not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and think you have not submitted to Satan.
Like I always say, Satan doesn’t want all of you, he knows God wants all of you and so if He’s successful in getting some of you, God won’t take some… Then he wins!
So what does a slave do? Simple! He lives FOR his master and Lord.
Therefore, this one thing I ask of you my friend, that daily, let your heart bow to God and ask in prayer that He fills you with the desire to live for Him and the ability to actually live for Him, in Jesus name.
Thank you for reading this short one. God bless you. As usual, if it blesses you, bless another by sharing. You can Drop a comment and click the star icon to like.
