Something about children… In whatever situation, they are a gift from God.
Hello precious reader, I’m glad you’re reading from me this Friday. I pray you’ll be blessed as you read on. Meanwhile, if you’ve not read last week’s post, you can read it via My Salvation Story, I believe it’ll bless you.
Today’s writing is not to tell you how amazing little children are (seeing I started with that). Rather, it is to draw a lesson from one of their many hidden qualities of faith.
I recall Jesus making a major point of the kingdom of God, saying unequivocally, that it is “for such as this“… Children. That statement is a lot. It’s not as simple as it looks.

The aspect of the qualities of children I want to talk about today (I intend it to be a short and simple post) is how quickly and effortlessly they share a piece of good news.
Matthew 19:14 (KJV)
“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Have you ever promised something to a child? They go around telling their friends what you promised them… “My uncle said if I do well, he’ll buy me a bicycle.“… “My Daddy said he’ll take me to the mall this weekend.”… “My mummy said she’ll buy a new pair of shoes.”… And when they see something their father or mother has, you hear… “My daddy has that kind of television.”
Children do these things so innocently and out of excitement. They want you to know the good that has happened to them. It kind of reminds me of the Samaritan woman who went about telling the Samaritan people to come see a man who told her everything she ever did and that He could be the Christ.
No one paid this woman or begged her to announce Jesus, she had encountered, in that moment, the Living Water and she went about and couldn’t stop speaking to others what she had encountered.
I don’t want to be cajoled by my Pastor to talk about Jesus. I don’t want to evangelise or talk to my friends about Jesus because I’ve been told there’s a reward or consequence if I don’t. I want to talk about Jesus because I know Him and because I have the faith of a child in Him, because I’ve had so much of Him and can’t keep calm, because like a child, I can’t help but show my new “toy” to my friends.
How often do we talk about Jesus? How passionate are we about Him? Do people even know that we believe? Do we easily hide our identity when we are with others? Do we compromise and go with the flow when among unbelieving people? Do we reject the foolishness of the gospel to show the people of this world that we are wise also (sadly only by the world’s standards).
I don’t know about you but I want to have those qualities of faith children have. That living hope children have… They live the entire week in anticipation of the visit to the mall that weekend.
I don’t want to be an adult who tries to be accepted by everyone at the expense of my faith.
What are you living for? Is there really a hope for your living? Do you still believe or are you all grown up?
Ask the Lord to awaken your love and dedication to Him. There’s never a moment of break with the Lord. Ask Him to fill you with Him, in Jesus name. Amen.
