How Do You Stand?

Hello there precious reader, it’s another wonderful Friday and it’s about to get even better because you will be blessed by the word of God and be changed.

Last week, I wrote about the special wonderful feature children have which is their inability to keep any good news to themselves and I encouraged that this should be our attitude when we’ve experienced God. You can read last week’s post here Something About Children.

For today, I was inspired to write something about the gospel. You see, when we continue to walk with the Lord, He establishes us more and more in faith. We may not have started with the soundest of doctrines, but we started with faith like a mustard seed and God daily builds and makes the little seed grow as we walk with Him… And that’s why you can’t even think because you believed one day and answered an altar call, you are settled for life. You must continue believing, keep on believing.

I pray today’s post further establishes you in your convictions and makes your heart leap for the joy of the Lord. Amen.

If I asked you who you believe in; God the Father or the Son (Jesus Christ), you’d probably say Jesus… And you’ll not be wrong. In fact there’s no right or wrong answer here. If I then asked you why you believe in Him, you might stutter, you might not even have anything to say. That’s what I believe God wants us to to talk about today.

Many of us have our faith resting on a wonderful story of the appearing of Jesus and the wonderful things He did, the fact that He died and He, by what He suffered and by His death, took away our sins… This is correct but baseless and incomplete. The devil likes it like that because he can easily sweep the person off their feet.

Acts 28:23 (KJV)
“And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”

Let me state it clearly that faith didn’t start from Matthew, if faith began at the appearing of Jesus Christ our saviour, it would be a faith “whose” hope can and may fail. Let me repeat it… Faith didn’t begin and doesn’t come from the appearing of Jesus Christ… We often forget that many had faith before the coming of Jesus. So what was their faith based on?

Sadly, the basis of both our faith and the appearance of Jesus is scarcely remembered.

The Promise of God is the basis of our faith and the coming of Jesus. God promised, out of His mercy, to save humanity the whole law and prophets are centered on God’s salvation plan. The law and the prophets aimed at giving hope to those who believed and for as many as truly and continued believing, when Jesus appeared, they received Him.

Listen to me, you cannot truly receive Jesus if you’ve not believed the promise of God because Jesus is the fulfilment of the promise. God is at the center of our salvation. If God hadn’t promised and given us His Word, there would be absolutely no reason to believe Jesus. Kai!!! It sounds like heresy I know but it is true. Jesus said He came to do the will of the Father. He said He came to fulfill all that was written of Him. He even said the testimony (word) of God was about Him. So you see, it’s not heresy. I am pointing you to what faith rests on. Stop riding on a one legged bicycle.

Jesus is the fulfilment of the promise (word) of God!!! It is written all over scriptures. Have you forgotten that the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God?

Listen, let me summarize like this, if you are one of those who think the old testament is not for Christians, you’re joking. Pick that Bible up and read the laws and the prophets so the Holy Spirit can establish you in the complete faith of God… His promise and His fulfilment. You may find that you were not even standing in the faith of the promise of God after all… Like the Pharisees. Let Christ be seen as the Word that He is and was spoken before His manifestation. Amen.

Permit me to add that our faith is not based on the person of Jesus alone. It is based on the promise of God and we believe that He who said it has fulfilled it (Birth, ministry, suffering, death burial and resurrection of Jesus) and is able to bring us fully into it (my complete redemption).

Without the promise, everything may as well be a tale told to children by the aged which when life’s reality appears, they can easily be thrown away and forgotten

You should meditate and read this post again and meditate again on the words. Shalom Adelphoi.
