…last week on Ancient Word 😂
Welcome again precious reader. Thank you for joining me today. I will complete the thought I began last week . I began to talk about the word of God and how that you don’t “do the word” but the work. What then is the work?
Believe me friends, I’m not trying to bring some new “rev” here… This is true and all over scriptures.
Let me put it simply and then build from there…. We don’t work on the word, the word works on us.
We most times forget that the word is spirit and life.
James 1:21 (KJV)
“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”.
After this verse of the scripture, we have the popular “be doers of the word” but we forget that the preceding verse says “Receive”.
Brethren, that is the real work!!!! Listen to me, it’s easier to mechanically do than to receive (believe) the word of God. The real work is to receive the word of God into your heart.
Kai!!! Brethren, believing is hard!!! Everything around you, everything in the media, everything in the corporate system, everything in the social system, everything within you, safe the Spirit of God, is fighting the faith that comes from hearing and hearing by the word.
Listen to me, the end of the word mustn’t just be our mindless fulfilment of it but imbibing it and allowing it permeate our ideologies until we become the word visible by our decisions and actions.
Let’s talk about the parable of the sower. You will notice that in that parable, the fight was never at the fruit stage but always at the receiving and understanding (believing) of the word (Matthew 13:3-9, Luke 8:5-8, please read). Once a man receives the word in their heart as the scriptures explain, without thorns and bristles, without rock beneath, there’s no stopping the fruit which is our living it. It flows like rivers of living water. The word is alive. It doesn’t need you to help it walk, it doesn’t use life support or crutches. It is quick and powerful brethren, it has authority to cause change from the spiritual to the physical. He just says believe.
Let’s look at another passage of the scriptures…
John 6:27-29 (KJV)
“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
Notice that Jesus was talking about labouring for the everlasting meat that gives life so they asked Him what the labour is. This was an opportunity for Jesus to charge them into some serious works… I know what you and I would have said, we would have said they should pray for hours and fast and study the word very much… But Jesus said “Believe“. You can read the passage again.
Listen to me, you are worried about doing the word of God instead you should be meditating on the word so the word will work in you. There are rocks, thorns and bristles coming in different ways to make sure that word you heard is unprofitable. So brethren the real work is to fight to retain and continue in that word no matter what comes to you.

Listen, I’ve seen people twist scripture to suit their experiences. I’ve heard doctrines taught just because what is seen doesn’t look like what the word says. This is the real work, the ability to continue in the word as James 1:25 says. The work is to hold up the rod of the word of God until the situation parts like the Red Sea and you walk on dry ground, the solid rock of God’s faithfulness.
When your focus is on just the outward display of obedience, no matter how sincere, sooner than later you’ll be found without strength to continue because you always fall short.
Next week I will write to you about how believing and doing/obedience work… It will bless you.
Let me summarize. Remember that the birds of the air, the rocky ground and the thorny ground are targeting the seed from being sown in your heart. You can’t be focused on the fruit of a seed when the seed is not even sown properly. Ask the farmer if he does anything to make sure the fruit comes out except making sure the seed is properly planted and taken care of.
Hence Adelphoi, contend for the seed of faith. Contend for it. Worry not about it yielding for it is faithful, it’ll yield if you’ll labour to continue in it.
Thank you for joining me today. Please don’t forget to share this when you’re blessed. Have a wonderful weekend. God bless you
