When Is It Worry?

With the kind of world we live in, maybe my topic should have been “When is it not worry?” ... Lol. Anyway I have a message I want to pass on. Be blessed

The issue of worry is one of the thorns that choke our faith. Today, I am writing to you about it so you’re strengthened and encouraged to put down worry.

Luke 12:25 (GNT)
Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?”

Listen, worrying is not necessarily when you sit down and begin to anxiously think or when you can’t seem to sleep peacefully. Yes, all those are manifestations of worry but I believe worry to be something that manifests in different ways. Sometimes it is the energy that moves you. It’s not always what brings you down emotionally.

I believe worry manifests itself the moment your gaze is no longer fixed on God. The word of God in all its manifestations (Command, promise, precept, etc) is the stay of the heart of man. The moment a man no longer anchors on the word, he becomes unstable in all his ways. The man begins to worry about everything. Let’s look at some scriptures on this.

Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Psalms 56:3 (KJV)
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

Did you notice that the reason worry will have no place in one’s life is when they trust God. Not an image but the words of the Lord… Joshua will not be afraid because he can see God beside him, No. He will not be afraid because the Lord SAID that He’ll be with him… We anchor on the word of God… We walk by faith and not by sight.

Worry manifests sometimes in an outward anxiety but not always so… Sometimes it manifests in false peace, as though you have no trouble in your soul. Let me put it this way, at times, worry transcends making you emotionally unstable and goes straight to your decision making and how you live.

Listen, the times you worry and it manifests in anxiety, high blood pressure and all, it’s usually because you don’t have the situation in control. For example; maybe you you need a sum of money that is ridiculously huge in a short time and you don’t even have a penny, you begin to fret. But those times you solve the problem and stop fretting, you feel you have no more worries in your soul because you’ve solved it. How about “because the Lord said” .

Listen, the one who takes care of worries by solving the problem is a prisoner of worry.

The second way worry manifests is the one I consider the dangerous one. It usually makes you feel in control meanwhile you are not. You live your life solving worries, “providing” for your worries, making sure you don’t have worries by amassing resources.

I call this second worry “seek first“. It leaves the emotional stage and forces you to seek all forms of security.

Today, I want you to see this subtle side of worry. The side that doesn’t disturb you emotionally per sè but makes you take decisions for your self preservation. The side that gives you logical things to worry about.

We’ve been commanded not to worry, instead, to seek the kingdom of God and trust Him to take care of us. Just like I began to say, worry is when God is no longer the gaze and the aim.

I hope you’ve been blessed. Come read from me next week Friday. Great grace to you.
