The Just Shall Live

Last week I wrote to you on Sly Mammon. I tried to explain how and where Mammon worship starts. I recommend you read the post before continuing with today’s if you’ve not done that before.

It’s a privilege that I can write to you and you can read from me. God bless you and open the eyes of your understanding.

For today’s write up, I wish I could just post scriptures and not get to explain but I won’t. I’ll be referencing a number of them though.

Habakkuk 2:4 (KJV)
“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”

Of course from last week I told us that it is Mammon worship to seek after the basic amenities of life and that’s what led me to write on this.

If a believer is not allowed to pursue the basic necessities of life… Food, water, shelter, clothing… how then should he live?

The believer shall live by his faith.

Listen, let no one deceive you that it is wisdom to pursue after material and perishable things. Those only sustain the flesh and In case you don’t know, I don’t have the time to prove it to you, but the will of God is that our daily needs are supplied by Him.

Kai!!! A man who amassing all the wealth but has no faith is a dead man. Likewise the man who has just enough to survive and has no faith.

True living, satisfying living, real life on earth is not the one who has assurance of food, clothing, shelter, etc because he labours. It is the one who lives by faith.

You’re probably saying “But Rowland no one can eat faith”. No! no one can eat faith but it’s still how we ought to live… By Faith!!!

So what does it mean to live by faith?

Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

I personally believe faith is a Spirit. It is the Spirit that comes only from the word of God to our heart and mind.

So in simple explanation, faith is living by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God to you… Top on that list is seeking first the kingdom of God and His Christ.

Listen, a believer’s life, decisions, directions, desires, goals, convictions, assurances, expectations, etc, should be borne by the words God has spoken. A believer lives by faith when he sets the Lord (His word)before his eyes and nothing else.

Oh I really hope you’re gaining understanding and being renewed.

On a more practical note. Am I therefore saying you should quit your job, adelphoi, if it comes to that, please, quit Sir. You’re probably wondering how you’ll survive, it means you haven’t received any word.

Kai!!! How that a man remains unchanged in abundance or lack because his material state is not his hope but the word… Because he lives by faith.

That’s what I’m talking about. Our lives are ordered by the spirit of faith (of God) through receiving His word that convicts and directs you first to repentance then to necessary actions.

If I choose to continue, I won’t be able to convince myself that I’ve explained enough so what I’ll do is to post a passage of scriptures and then concluded.

Hebrews 11:32-38 (KJV)
“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”

So what it is saying is that by believing the word of God that was spoken to them, they achieved all these exploits not by mammon.

Matthew 16:24-26 (KJV)
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Listen, this is where your repentance should begin from. Acknowledge that it is God that provides for you and your labour for and of life is vain. You may continue what you’re doing because you can’t be idle but for some, you may have to stop some things you’re doing. What’s more productive is giving your full attention to the word of God because that’s where the Spirit of faith comes from and direction.

I have yet more things to say to expatiate on this matter but I will not.
